What is the difference between capped and open deck? 

If you want to build a deck, you can use a material that is durable. The nature of the deck is not the same as wood. A synthetic material that contains wood dust and plastic is called a deck. Plastic and timber fibre are recycled. This means that the deck is made from leftover materials. It does not require the falling of trees. The decking conserves trees. It doesn’t require a chemical to make it last longer. Wood deck that contains chemicals is hazardous to your health. There are a lot of boards to choose from.

Capped deck

A capped WPC deck board has an extra layer of plastic on top. The plastic coating that protects the surface is different from the other types of boards. There is no plastic coating on the uncapped deck. Modern and second- generation boards are called capped WPCs.

The first generation of boards are uncapped. Homeowners have rated the second-generation WPC boards as the best. This is due to the many advantages of capping. The advantages of capping are listed. 

Advantages of capped deck

One of the main advantages of capped WPC is that it takes in less water than wood. The plastic-coated surface forms a protective shell around the top of the board to keep water out. It’s a good thing that your capped deck won’t swell. If the material takes in a lot of water, it will swell or increase in size. 

Water resistant

The surface of a deck will be asymmetrical when it swells. The deck will rot if the water doesn’t dry quickly. Wood and rot are associated with each other. If you install a capped WPC deck, you don’t have to worry that it will swell or rot.

This shows that you can install a capped deck in an outdoor space.  Close to a pool or a dock where water is abundant, you can install capped composite decks. It will resist mold and Mildew better than wood. There are Mildew and mold on a damp deck.

A damp deck absorbs water and becomes wet. Mildew and mold will grow if a deck becomes moist and the weather condition is set. mold will find it hard to feed on a capped deck. Green algae thrive in damp or wet places. Green algae won’t grow on it since it won’t become damp. It is easy to clean. They require regular maintenance like other household materials. It is easy to maintain.

The plastic surface of capped boards will prevent the liquid stain from entering it. Grease will stay on top if oil spills on a capped deck. You can use a soft brush to remove grease from the top of your deck. The UV rays are not able to fade the surface pigment. It is not insect food to have a capped deck that will resist insects. The wood part of it is protected by a plastic covering.
