## Summary

A dry friction value or a textured appearance does not establish safe wet performance. The method, surface condition and intended use must match the question.

## The technical principle

Slip behaviour depends on the contact system: surface, footwear or test slider, water or contamination, and movement. Results from different instruments are not automatically interchangeable. Grooves alone do not establish a safety classification, and a clean new sample may not represent a maintained public walkway.

## What to specify and verify

Request the complete slip report, including wet conditions, test direction, sample preparation and surface wear where relevant. Have a competent assessor relate the results to the project and applicable requirements. Do not turn a historic friction threshold from a 2007 book into a current universal acceptance rule.

## Application and common mistakes

Drainage, cleaning and winter operation remain part of the design. Even a product with suitable test evidence can become hazardous when covered by ice or organic deposits. For a Green Plank proposal, ask for the relevant report for the exact surface rather than a general slip-resistant marketing statement.

## Discuss your project with Green Plank

For a Green Plank specification, request samples and current technical documents for the exact profile and intended application. Use the Green Plank link in Sources to explore the range and make an enquiry. Commercial disclosure: this portal features Green Plank. General material science does not certify any particular product.

## Key points

Method: Identify instrument and procedure.
Condition: Wetness, contamination and direction.
Operation: Cleaning, drainage and winter management.

## Do deeper grooves guarantee better wet grip?

No. Relevant testing of the actual surface is needed; appearance alone is insufficient.
