At a glance
Specify a complete product and installation system for its intended use. WPC is a material family, not permission to use one profile everywhere.
Start with the end use #
The EN 15534 series includes separate parts for decking, cladding and fencing. This is a useful reminder that the same constituent materials can face different performance requirements. [R02,R54,R55]
See the comparison table below for start with the end use.
Distinguish a profile from an assembly #
A board used as a decorative infill should not be assumed suitable as a protective railing. A cladding plank does not establish the performance of the complete wall. A window-lineal compound does not establish the completed window's performance.
For architects and category managers, prepare one documentation schedule covering product identification, installation instructions, relevant tests, maintenance and change control. Check that drawings and supplied materials describe the same profile and fixing system.
Make commercial enquiries useful #
When contacting Green Plank, state whether the project is residential, commercial or municipal and provide the exposure and intended arrangement. Ask for current documentation for the selected product rather than relying on a general brand description.
A well-structured enquiry saves time for both parties. It also creates a record of what was specified, why it was suitable and which assumptions must remain true during installation and use.
